Seeing if my baby rabbits is being fed?

i want to breed my mother rabbit. i bred her before and she had a false pregnancy. i read everything i needed to know but one thing. how do u check to see if they are being fed? i know to look at them and everything but should i touch the mother and get her scent on me then put her away where she cant see them and then check them? or what should i do?
