Has stem cell technology resulted in any improvements in osteoarthritis treatment?

Maybe some day there will be a non-surgical treatment for those who have lost cartilage in their joints. That would be wonderful. But it's not a practical reality quite yet. In the meantime, that "drastic" surgical solution that so many of us have resorted to will have to suffice. It's not actually so bad nor does it necessarily prevent patients from doing previous activities. On the contrary, it succeeds in permitting patients to return to activities that severe arthritis prevented. I've had both hips replaced. I couldn't walk without a cane. Now I can walk miles with no discomfort and no one can tell by looking at me that I have two fake hips. No, running or jogging isn't recommended for those who wish their fake hips to outlive them. But there are so many other things I can safely do. That, plus I have my life back. Not so bad when you think about it.
