If you are pregnant but take an at home test a little early?

if you take a cheapy at home pee test a little early and there is some hgc but not much will there still be a positive but maybe the lines be a little faint or faded? or could I get a complete false negative?? I think I had implantation bleeding and it ended 3 day's ago. when should I buy a pee stick? ?
