What happens to people who report false information to intelligence bueras?

I was looking up one of my relatives, when I noticed someone was still listed as being related to me, but their age and date of birth had been changed in the data base but their status was still the same but all my info was correct. I looked on another data base and they were the same as their new wife who is 25 years older, why would someone do that? Is this a legitimate error? Or could there b something wrong here,
